Tasting Notes: Beeryani

October 25, 2010 under Beer Reviews

Now, please dont judge me.

Over the weekend we found ourselves in the local Wetherspoons – we had vouchers to take advantage off… While we were there we came across Beeryani from The Exeter Brewery.

Its a confused little beer. On one hand theres not a huge amount of taste there – its almost like a cool crisp lager, but to look at it you’d think its a wheat beer from Europe…. but there really isn’t too much there to write home about.

I suppose the trust test is in the drinking. Dont drink it as a session beer, but have it to help keep you cool…. maybe while eating the Sweet Chilli Noodles?

The Exeter Living Room

September 11, 2009 under Pubs

The Living Room ExeterNot much to say on the Beer front… Tetleys or Carlsburg is what you get. BUT if you can stomach either of those beers, this is a fantastic little cafe to chill out in for a pint or two with a mate.

There is a good selection of wines, good menu, and a great welcome from the staff.

As far as the food is concerned, if you like burgers, you have to try The Living Room Burger. Its an Exmoor burger, with cheese, three onion rings, and a slice of bacon. Beautiful!

Going to Turf Hotel?

August 25, 2009 under Uncategorized

Make sure you dont get stranded! We made the mistake of planning to use the White Heather Ferry to get from Turf Hotel upto Double Locks.

We waited until the time it was meant to show up… it never came. Sadly this meant we missed the reliable ferry back to Topsham. What this did mean was we found out how long it took to walk to Starcross. Thanks!

Anne has a longer write up of the day on her blog!

Skinners Cornish Beer: The Raving Continues!

June 14, 2009 under Pubs

I would hate for people to think we were paid by Skinners to push their products, but I thought I had to follow up my review of Skinners Cornish Lager, I posted a few days ago.

If you find yourself in Exeter City Centre, The Old Well House on the Cathedral Green has it on tap!

Its beautiful and thirst quenching, but a little pricey – but it is a pricey pub anyway…

By the way if anyone from Skinners (or anywhere else) would like to send us beer to review -please feel free to use the above link to contact us!
