I would hate for people to think we were paid by Skinners to push their products, but I thought I had to follow up my review of Skinners Cornish Lager, I posted a few days ago.

If you find yourself in Exeter City Centre, The Old Well House on the Cathedral Green has it on tap!

Its beautiful and thirst quenching, but a little pricey – but it is a pricey pub anyway…

By the way if anyone from Skinners (or anywhere else) would like to send us beer to review -please feel free to use the above link to contact us!

In a word. No!

Skinners Cornish lager is beautiful. Somehow it has a nice ale over tone, while having a refreshing lager taste. Worth checking out if you can find it!

We’ve just got back from camping at Carnon Downs. The camp site itself is more pricey then other places but the site itself is very nice, and the location itself is great. Part of the reason why the location is so good is that its just over the road from Carnon Inn.

Last year we found the food was great, and the service was fantastic. Sadly this year it wasn’t so great. We didn’t have any food or beer – so we cant comment on those, but the service wasn’t great.

During our first evening there we got served a bottle of wine that must have already been used – it seemed a large glass down. Sadly we only realised after we had already poured a few glasses and saw that it barely poured four small glasses worth! During our second evening (a Friday night) we had to wait an age to get served, while after we did get served there seemed to be some confusion with our tab! It was confusing and a little embarrassing at the time, but it did make up for lack of wine on the first evening!

Well even though the staff arn’t as fantastic as they once were, the view from the pub garden is still fantastic, and is worth a visit as somewhere to chill out and relax. It is very much a chain pub, so I would suggest going elsewhere if you want somewhere more traditional.

Whats a guy to do? Personnally I went for this beer that had lived in the fridge since the Exeter Food and drink festival a while back.

Opening it up shows the life the beer has – it went everywhere, maybe it was too chilled or something? Its a strong yet refreshing beer to drink, with a fairly hoppy aftertaste. Perfect for Summer drinking.

Be prepared though for the cloudyness of the drink. To quote Anne when she turned around and saw what I was drinking “That beer looks not right…”

So its a nice refreshing beer, perfect for a sunny day – possibly on a Cornish beach, just dont expect it to look any good…
