“ooooo thats interesting” – Mrs Beer…
There are some beers that you need to warm up to. Gulden Draak is one… Insanely Bad Elf is now my second one. Its a strong beer at 11.2% and it really does taste like it. To be perfectly honest when you buy a beer with mad looking insane elf on the front – what do you expect?
Its a struggle to drink at first, but after a few gulps this ruby red beer becomes easier to drink. Theres very much a deep caramel taste to this beer, which seems to be its down fall – as it is a little sickly. If you pick this up – dont think you’ve screwed up pouring it, there simply isn’t a head to this beer. Maybe thats how Americans like their beer?
A strong strong beer… worth a taste for the experience…
Last week we went on a small tour around East Devon, ending up in Budleigh Salterton. It may appear to be a quiet sea side town, but at least it has a decent cheap Threshers. What I was impressed with was the 3 bottles of local beer for 6 quid. We brought three bottles of Otter Beer:
I have to admit. I am confused. This is a nice beer – its a good drink, and refreshing, like Otter Bright mentioned above, while having a stronger malty tast. Making it more of a beer that lager lovers may turn down.
With many thanks to my parents, I’m currently enjoying a couple of Pints of Pistons Bitter from the Beer Engine in Devon. Taking full advantage of the take away service they have. Sadly its losing its life a little as its been more then three hours since purchase, but the fact that its still frinkable really does speak volumes for the smooth tase of this beer.
Well when I was at the Weatherspoons Beer festival I decided to go for the “thirds of a pint for the price of pint” offer that they do at these things. As I ran out of inspiration come the third pint, I asked the guy what he suggested. He poured a pint of Titanic, muttering something about it being something “completly different”.
There are somethings in life that isn’t good. A busy crowded Sainsburys is one. Being stuck in a traffic jam is another. Sainsburys So Organic Beer is another bad thing.
Its late – so I’m gonna be quick. This is a fine tasting beer from Dartmoor in Devon. Brewed in Princetown – home of Dartmoor Prison, therefore the name “Jail Ale”.
