How to hold your Beer Bottles in the Fridge
Sarah Jane Adventures – “Death of a Doctor” Preview Clip
Normal Beer related service may resume shortly. In the mean time… I’m still getting excited about a kids TV show…
Tasting Notes: St Edmunds from Greene King
With a name like “St Edmunds” part of me expected to be expected to be a dark and heavy ale, much like something a monk may have brewed up at some point. Now theres a time and place for that, but that time isn’t when you want to pour liquid down your throat after work.
I sampled St Edmunds before a I coughed up money for a pint, and I’m glad I went for it. This is one of those beers that the first gulp doesn’t really do it justice. At first taste, its got an obvious light citrus taste, but it’s as the pint goes down that you find out how oddly smooth it also tastes.
Its also worth noting that if you’re trying to convert someone from lager to ale… this could be worth a try.

Please excuse me while I get excited over a kids TV show:
We Love Otter Brewery
Ok.
A couple of days I posted about a bottle of Otter Bright, that seemed to include some floaty bits… which well looked wrong.
Being a little bit disgruntled, I emailed the Otter Brewery about this, and I have to say I am well impressed with how the issue has been dealt with.
Yes the Gift Case is very nice, but I’m mostly impressed with the focus that Otter seem to have given to me, going out of their way to apologise, and keeping me in the loop with whats going on.
Nice one.

Budweiser Route 66 – Beer Review
Well I found something that looked a little new in our local tescos. It was a warm day, the beer looked refreshing, and at £2.50 for a 4 pack I figured it was worth a go.
So what is this new beer? Well “Budweiser 66″ is Budweiser’s attempt to cash in on the current increase in mild beers. After all, Becks Vier and Stella 4% are at it, this is Budweisers version of it. Does it add to the marketplace? Well – kinda.
Taste wise, theres not much to it… and I suppose I’m being polite in a way… BUT whats the beer designed for? If its summer drinking then its a great beer. If thats the case then I’m kinda confused, why wasn’t this beer released over Easter?
If you want an ale taste then look else where. If you dont care, and just want something to refresh the tastebuds which tastes good… then give it a go. At £2.50 a shot… you cant go wrong.
A Bad Bottle of Otter Bright?
I’m sure this isn’t sediment… Looks a little too lumpy, it was also kinda floating a it was poured.
The best before date is next year… So I’m kinda confused.
I am a fan of Otter Bright…but I really hope the other one I have isn’t like this!
Needless to say – this bottle of Otter Bright wasn’t drunk…
The Four Lords at St Blazey Gate, Cornwall
I dont know about you, but when we stay somewhere, the nearest pub is almost always tried out. (Presuming that the nearest pub doesn’t look like a dump) The nearest pub to our camp site was “The Four Lords”, which can be found at St Blazey Gate – nestled between the random village of Par and St Austell.
We went along there to start with for food, we weren’t sure what to expect, but as the St Austell pub in Exeter is rather posh we expected good stuff. What we got was almighty fine food at almighty fine prices, which weren’t posh at all!
Beer wise… Well I suppose my expectations were a little high. I kinda presumed that seeing it was near St Austell then the beer would be interesting. Well it was Tribute – which is no bad thing, but I can get it from just up the road as well. I think I just wanted something a little more attention grabbing that’s all.
It’s worth noting that the wine was very nicely priced as well… And I think that sums the place up. At the end of the day, this seems like a local pub, for local people, which is geared for people who like food, and want a warm welcome.
Nice.
Camping at Double Trees Farm, Cornwall
Ok.
Lets face it. Camping is camping. You kinda know what you’re going to get at a campsite, unless its a particular dump, or a particularly nice site.
Double Trees is somewhere in between yet also slightly odd. Mostly because of the chickens wondering around the campsite. I’m sure there was one morning where we were woken by a Rooster… on top of our tent. The gorgeous Collie also has free reign of the site as well. A lovely friendly dog… but if you’re not a dog fan… well… you know… I can imagine it not being loved.
Its worth noting that the website is out of date. It seems there is a Bakery … Fish & Chip Shop … Public House … Grocery Store…Newsagent … and a Butcher nearby… Well there is a Chippy, a garage / shop, and a Pub nearby… I didn’t see anything else nearby…
My own tip about the site is to make sure you camp as near the toilet as you can… walking up and down the hill does feel a bit old late at night.
The thing about this place… and a big reason to go here is the fine view… just make sure you don’t mind the random poultry.
