Lets be friendly…

March 16, 2011 under Beer Reviews

Did you know…

  • 84% of us think we should be friendlier to each other
  • 57% of Brits are at their most miserable at this time of year
  • Nearly half of us believe Northern England is the friendliest part of the country
  • Two thirds of us think London and the South East is the unfriendliest
  • When it comes to starting a friendly conversation with a stranger down the pub, more than half of us would rather turn the other way and ignore them

And it seems that Ireland is seen at the friendliest place to live… On this note Guinness have taken up the annual celebration of St Patrick to try and encourage us to be nice and friendly to each other.

So lets at least try to be nice to a random stranger once every now and then… maybe listen to that old guy down the pub… or at least get yourself over to the Guinness Facebook page, and get a buy one Guinness get one free voucher.

How are you planning to be nice?

You may wanna bear those chickens in mind if you intend to go to this pub with a dog…

Why is “The Devon Dumpling” called “The Devon Dumpling”

March 12, 2011 under Beer Reviews

Why we asked Bays Brewery why The Devon Dumpling was called The Devon Dumpling, and they answered our silly request:

Devon Dumpling is a nickname for someone who lives in Devon – like a Scoucer is for someone from Liverpool! We liked the name and thought it would also help promote the local element too…

Now whats the next silly question we can ask?

Introducing “Pub Shots”

March 7, 2011 under Pub Shots

I’m a fan of taking photos… and well one thing missing from here are recent Pub Reviews…

Well you know the old phrase “A picture is worth a thousand words”… Basically we’re going to combine the two. We’re gonna start publishing photos that sum up the feel of a the place that we find ourselves in.

They might be nice… they might be cruddy… hopefully they’ll you you a little something about the pubs we find ourselves in.

Beer Review: Summerskills Brewery – Indiana’s Bones

February 19, 2011 under Beer Reviews

Warning.

Pour this one quickly and its going to go mad on you. Pour her carefully and she’ll treat you nicely, it looks dark, but is very easy to drink. Its kinda odd, it tastes light yet syrupy. Sadly the taste of syrup is pretty much what you come away from this beer with…

…but it is a nice tasting syrup.
