A couple of days I posted about a bottle of Otter Bright, that seemed to include some floaty bits… which well looked wrong.

Being a little bit disgruntled, I emailed the Otter Brewery about this, and I have to say I am well impressed with how the issue has been dealt with.

Yes the Gift Case is very nice, but I’m mostly impressed with the focus that Otter seem to have given to me, going out of their way to apologise, and keeping me in the loop with whats going on.

Nice one.

Well I found something that looked a little new in our local tescos. It was a warm day, the beer looked refreshing, and at £2.50 for a 4 pack I figured it was worth a go.

So what is this new beer? Well “Budweiser 66″ is Budweiser’s attempt to cash in on the current increase in mild beers. After all, Becks Vier and Stella 4% are at it, this is Budweisers version of it. Does it add to the marketplace? Well – kinda.

Taste wise, theres not much to it… and I suppose I’m being polite in a way… BUT whats the beer designed for? If its summer drinking then its a great beer. If thats the case then I’m kinda confused, why wasn’t this beer released over Easter?

If you want an ale taste then look else where. If you dont care, and just want something to refresh the tastebuds which tastes good… then give it a go. At £2.50 a shot… you cant go wrong.

I dont know about you, but when we stay somewhere, the nearest pub is almost always tried out. (Presuming that the nearest pub doesn’t look like a dump) The nearest pub to our camp site was “The Four Lords”, which can be found at St Blazey Gate – nestled between the random village of Par and St Austell.

We went along there to start with for food, we weren’t sure what to expect, but as the St Austell pub in Exeter is rather posh we expected good stuff. What we got was almighty fine food at almighty fine prices, which weren’t posh at all!

Beer wise… Well I suppose my expectations were a little high. I kinda presumed that seeing it was near St Austell then the beer would be interesting. Well it was Tribute – which is no bad thing, but I can get it from just up the road as well. I think I just wanted something a little more attention grabbing that’s all.

It’s worth noting that the wine was very nicely priced as well… And I think that sums the place up. At the end of the day, this seems like a local pub, for local people, which is geared for people who like food, and want a warm welcome.

Nice.

Ok.

Lets face it. Camping is camping. You kinda know what you’re going to get at a campsite, unless its a particular dump, or a particularly nice site.

Double Trees is somewhere in between yet also slightly odd. Mostly because of the chickens wondering around the campsite. I’m sure there was one morning where we were woken by a Rooster… on top of our tent. The gorgeous Collie also has free reign of the site as well. A lovely friendly dog… but if you’re not a dog fan… well… you know… I can imagine it not being loved.

Its worth noting that the website is out of date. It seems there is a Bakery … Fish & Chip Shop … Public House … Grocery Store…Newsagent … and a Butcher nearby… Well there is a Chippy, a garage / shop, and a Pub nearby… I didn’t see anything else nearby…

My own tip about the site is to make sure you camp as near the toilet as you can… walking up and down the hill does feel a bit old late at night.

The thing about this place… and a big reason to go here is the fine view… just make sure you don’t mind the random poultry.

The other day I stumbled across this at Beer47.

A few days ago I posted an article about California Assembly Bill 1598, which is currently in committee and will, as currently written, potentially outlaw any malt beverage that contains caffeine, including the beloved craft beer styles that include coffee such as espresso stouts, coffee porters, and more.

Now I’m not the biggest fan of coffee, but why would anyone want to ban coffee beer? Surely if underage drinkers are getting it, if its banned then wont they be drinking something else instead?

So therefore I’m sticking the “I heart coffee stout” on the right hand side —-> More a protest then a declaration of love for the stuff!

Its been a combination of things, such as starting a webdesign course, going to Dartmoor, and having to install new operating systems on both PCs!

Also – and more to the point, I’ve not really had anything interesting to say, and when I have said it – I’ve only had time to use Twitter.

But I thought this Beer was worthwhile just blogging to say – if you see it in Tesco’s then give it a sample. Its a dark czech lager, that doesn’t taste as ‘thick’ as some others – and if you’re a fan of czech beer, then its worth sampling just for the experience.
