Its worth a watch – so check out the video clip to your top right —>

My favourite type of milk

October 22, 2009 under Uncategorized

A guest post today from Dan.  My favourite kind of milk can be seen here:

BeerBottle

This is 100% pure Barnstormer, by Bath Ales, and is a really rather fine ale to be drinking for free.  Slightly stouty with a gentle hopsy tang, drinkable till the cows come home and disturb your peace, it comes very recommended!

Why do I have beer in a milk bottle, you may ask?  And indeed, I do too, since I appear to have forgotten.  How much did I drink?  Wait, I remember a wedding, and volunteering to take the leftovers…  After that its pretty much a slurr… I mean blurr.. I mean, want a drink? Com’on down, I’m trying to shift 18 pints with a shelf life of less than a week here!

(Disclaimer: I actually left this at work and told people to help themselves… I think people find “free beer” a bit scary.  Were I flogging it at ripoff prices and calling myself a “wine bar” I bet it would’ve gone faster!)

Beer Review – Duvel

October 18, 2009 under Uncategorized

“It looks like a pudding”
Anne

Well I suppose it does. Kinda. Pale yellow, with a slight hint of green. This strong tasting fizzy beer went nicely with a Haggis. One of those beers that I’ve been meaning to try for a while but never quite got round to it.

Worth a drink when you get a chance.

Innis and Gunn – Rum Cask

October 17, 2009 under Uncategorized

In a mad attempt to drink something that isn’t Guinness, last night I dug our last bottle of this beautful stuff out of its hiding place. I reviewed this last time – still think its beautiful now. Gentle, yet deep tasting. I’m still amazed at the smell of rum, this time I was also very aware of a little fizz that was well gorgeous.

You’re not going to be able to pick this up by itself again for a while I reckon – but I did see it on sale earlier in a Christmas box set in Sainsburys. With two other beers from Innis and Gunn I may not wait for Christmas.

10 Reasons to get a free pint of Carling

October 17, 2009 under Uncategorized
  1. You’re thirsty and there’s no water to drink. Ever.
  2. You want to appear cool in front of a bunch of drunk students.
  3. You’re in a really bad pub.
  4. Theres nothing but Carling and alcopops on sale.
  5. You’re trying to cheer up you’re mate that thinks Carling is cool.
  6. The mate in question buys you a pint.
  7. Because its free.
  8. Because you want to test your self control by going to a pub, getting a Carling, and avoiding buying anything else.
  9. Because you like beers beginning with C.
  10. Because there are no good free things on this planet? So you might as well get what you can get.
