Heard Rumours of a New Guinness Advert due to shown tonight, to celebrate the 250th birthday of Arthur Guinness.

I’ve checked the advert out and while its not the most impressive one ever its quite cool and is worth a watch. Makes me wonder what crazy offers Guinness might have on over the end of September.

For those into these sorts of things. The Press Release is as below:

GUINNESS BRINGS 250TH ANNIVERSARY TO LIFE WITH FIRST EVER GLOBAL TV AD

As the 250th global anniversary celebrations prepare to reach a crescendo on Arthur’s Day, 24th September 2009, a new global television commercial toasting the man who first brought us the black stuff will debut in the UK today.

The ad begins in a traditional Irish pub in Dublin, when a GUINNESS drinker notices the 1759 date on his Guinness pint glass and raises his glass to toasts its founder, Arthur Guinness. Nearby, another person hears the toast, likes the sentiment and also raises a pint of the black stuff to Arthur. The toast then rings out onto the street amongst more GUINNESS drinkers – ‘To Arthur’ they all say. Before long, the toast has spread all around the world but in a humourous twist, changes and morphs as it travels from person to person becoming a toast ‘To Farmers,’ ‘To Llamas,’ ‘To Parsnips’ and beyond.

As the camera pans out, we are encouraged to ‘join the worldwide celebration of a man named Arthur and a beer named GUINNESS’.

The advertising campaign is inviting people to join in the 250 celebrations and honour the man who first signed the 9,000 year lease on the legendary St. James’s Gate brewery 250 years ago.

The celebrations culminate on Arthur’s Day, 24th September 2009 with a global music event to commemorate the great man himself and artists and fans will raise a toast to the Arthur Guinness Fund, which will honour the legacy and philanthropic heritage of the founder of GUINNESS and his descendants.

The GUINNESS 250 programme includes a global advertising campaign, a groundbreaking consumer promotion and ‘Arthur’s Day’ events on 24 September being held around the world in cities including Dublin, New York, Lagos and Kuala Lumpur.

“GUINNESS is one of the world’s most iconic brands and we feel that it is a fitting tribute to use this milestone to launch our first ever global advertising campaign. GUINNESS 250 will also be giving people around the world the opportunity to win truly extraordinary experiences and attend amazing events throughout 2009,” says Ronan Beirne, Global Marketing Manager.
