Well the idea was simple. Go to The Living Room on the Saturday before New Years, and eat plenty of fine food. Problem. Even though we had a sheeet of paper saying it was open – it was in fact very closed. We looked for shelter in Henry’s Bar across the road – after we squeezed past the smoker who was blocking the door, and didn’t seem to understand “excuse me”.
Nice pub, but our general feelings were summed up by Dan:
“You’d think a place like this would be cheaper”
After we were joined by the last of our party, we decided to move onto the Bowling Green – as that place also serves food…apart from after Christmas. A pint of Doombar was consumed under their very large teasing menu board.
Our Quest continued with a trip to the Mount Rad, we walked in asked for food – was informed not that night – used their toilet – and left.
In the end we gave in and wondered over to Georges Meeting Place – the city centre weatherspoons, home of mass produced food, lukewarm chips, but still slightly cheap prices, and at least it was serving food!
